MIAMI, February 18, 2025 – It's iconic, it's legendary, and it's changing the vacation game. Royal Caribbean International is again setting new standards in the industry by revealing the name and itinerary of the third ship in the Icon Class series – Legend of the Seas. This unique combination of experiences that defines this revolutionary category of ships will conduct cruises all year round from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, starting from November 2026, with 6-day cruises to the Western Caribbean and 8-day cruises to the Southern Caribbean, including visits to the award-winning Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas. "After celebrating one year since the presentation of the iconic Icon Class series and the unforgettable moments provided by the cruises of the Icon, we are excited to announce the name of the third ship of the Icon Class category," stated Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. "The Legend of the Seas is the next bold step in this exciting era of vacationing and continues the legacy of the Icon Class. We look forward to offering these groundbreaking experiences to even more families and travelers across Europe, the Caribbean, and beyond."
This summer, travelers can explore unique European destinations, such as France, Italy, and Spain, filled with historic sites, stunning landscapes, and sunny beaches. In the winter, the Legend of the Seas will operate routes in the Western and Southern Caribbean, with stops at impressive destinations such as Oranjestad in Aruba, the enchanting beaches of Falmouth in Jamaica, and the culturally rich city of Willemstad in Curacao.
The Legend of the Seas is currently being built in Turku, Finland, and represents the next chapter in the world's top family vacations. This third ship of the Icon Class will bring even more unique experiences that were introduced with the Icon of the Seas and repeated with the Star of the Seas, which will make its debut at Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, in August 2025. Passengers will be able to enjoy a world of entertainment and relaxation through eight thematic neighborhoods, over 40 food and drink options, adrenaline-filled thrills, limitless relaxation, and countless moments of fun for all ages.
Travelers can look forward to innovations such as the Crown’s Edge – a combination of aerial walk, rope course, and adventure, as well as the largest water park at sea, Category 6. Those seeking tranquility can relax in one of the seven pools on the ship, including the largest pool at sea, Royal Bay, the Swim & Tonic with a bar in the water, and the Hideaway which features a unique Infinity pool, over the sea, and exclusively accessible to adults. Families can enjoy Surfside, the neighborhood designed for young children, and the Ultimate Family Townhouse, a three-story residence with redesigned spaces for the entire family.
The Legend of the Seas will also be the fourth ship of the company to operate on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and will feature advanced environmental programs, such as waste heat recovery systems and shore power connection, contributing to the Royal Caribbean Group's goal to present a zero-emission cruise ship by 2035.
More details about the Legend of the Seas will be revealed soon, while interested parties can learn more on the official Royal Caribbean website.
