Arrecife is a city in the Canary Islands (Spain) situated in the centre-east of the island of Lanzarote, of which it has been the capital since 1852. Its name originates from the abundance of reefs and islets along the coast (Arrecife means 'reef' in Spanish), which form a magnificent sea front promenade and provide many natural harbours. The main Shopping street, Castillo y Leon (AKA Calle Real), hosts a wide variety of shops and cafes. Ponta Delgada is the most famous and cosmopolitan city on the island of Sao Miguel, in the Archipelago of Azores, which is an autonomous region of Portugal. The classic Portuguese architecture, the spectacular whales' watching and the extraordinary view from Sete Sitades, with natural hot springs, rich vegetaion and volcanic landscapes, are some of city's highlights.
A stay in Fuerteventura wouldn’t be complete without visiting its capital, Puerto del Rosario. The city has been the capital of Fuerteventura since 1860, when it replaced the town of Betancuria. Since then, it has gradually grown to become the main city on the island, home to the island’s different institutions, as well as the airport and the port, the main routes of entry for people and goods.
San Sebastián is the main port, the capital and also an administrative district on La Gomera in the Canary Islands. Its main claim to fame is that Christopher Columbus stayed here on his way to the New World, and you’ll learn more about the famed explorer here than you ever did, as his every footstep (real or imagined) in the town has been well documented for visitors.
Santa Cruz de la Palma is located on the eastern part of the island of La Palma in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the Canary Islands. Santa Cruz de la Palma is the second largest city and is the capital of the island. The city is linked with a main highway encircling every part of the island and is located north of the La Palma Airport.
